Chrysalis Stories is a small online bookshop based in Texas. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. Put simply: we collect only what we need to send you letters and fill your orders, we never sell your information, and you can leave anytime.
What we collect
When you join The Late Hour (our newsletter): your email address, and — if you take the reading quiz — your quiz responses and the archetype result associated with your signup. That's all.
When you make a purchase: your name, email address, billing information, and shipping address if your order includes physical goods. Payment details are processed securely by our payment processors and never stored by us.
When you browse: like most websites, our site uses cookies for basic functionality (such as keeping items in your cart) and standard analytics that tell us, in aggregate, how the site is used. We don't use this information to identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser; the site will still work, though some features may be limited.
How we use it
- To deliver what you asked for: newsletter letters, downloads, and orders
- To personalize the shelf and letters you receive, if you've taken the quiz
- To send the occasional update about Chrysalis Stories, if you've subscribed
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site and shop are working
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information — not now, not later.
Who we share it with
We work with a small number of service providers who help us run the shop, and they only receive what they need to do their job:
- Kit (ConvertKit) — sends our newsletter and stores subscriber emails and tags
- Squarespace — hosts this website and processes orders
- Payment processors (such as Stripe or PayPal) — handle payment securely; we never see your full card number
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Email and unsubscribing
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. One click and you're out — no questions asked, and the door stays open if you ever want back in. You can also update your preferences or email address through the link in any letter.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See what personal information we have about you
- Correct it
- Delete it
Email us at hello@chrysalisstoriesco.com and we'll take care of it within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or state privacy laws; we honor reasonable requests from anyone, anywhere, without making you cite a statute.
Children
Our site and newsletter are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Data retention
We keep subscriber information for as long as you're subscribed, and order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Unsubscribed emails are removed from active sending immediately.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, mention it in The Late Hour.
